On the way home from church yesterday the woman who lives on the corner at the end of our street invited us to tea at 3pm. Every year we have talked to her about her beautiful flowers and this year we brought her chocolate from Seattle.
We had a delightful hour with Mr and Mrs Mizuochi. Sat on the floor around the table and had tea and cake with fun conversation and sumo on t.v. We asked lots of questions and found out which glue to use to fix the shoji screens. We discovered that Mr. Mizuochi is the person who came to visit and found the owner of our house collapsed with a heart attack about 8 years ago. He revived him and Mr Torii is now living in a nursing home near his family. It is such a rare treat to be invited into a Japanese person's home. They live in a traditional old Kyoto home called a Machiya.
