Settling In

The house we are renting has 4 rooms on the main floor and three on the second. The stairs to the second floor are at a 50 degree angle - I do not exaggerate! I am so very thankful for the handrail.

The first floor has a living room with wood floor another room with tatami mat floor in the front of the house then a hallway where you pass the toilet room and the bath/laundry room to the kitchen and the kotatsu room. This is the room we spend the most time in. It is tatami mat floor with a low table that has a place in the floor for our feet to go under it. We eat, watch some tv, and have our computers here. We sleep upstairs and hang clothes to dry on the 2nd floor balcony. We are lucky to have a house this large.

It is raining and chilly today so I will spend most of my time cleaning the kitchen and cooking. The house was clean when we arrived but it always feels better to organize things the way we will best use them. I will grocery shop while David is off to Doshisha University. Since this is our third time here the house feels more like home. And just like in Langley we have wonderful neighbors.
