It is easy to recycle in Kyoto. Foodstuff and burnables go into the yellow bag, plastic, pet bottles, glass, foil, etc go into the clear bag. Set it out by the curb on the proper day and it gets picked up twice a week.
In addition the little red truck comes around and picks up magazines, newspapers, and cardboard and the little white truck picks up any appliances you want to get ride of.
One of the things I most like is that every package has a "zipper" type place to pull and remove labels easily. No soaking to get sticky labels off containers. Wonderful.
